It used to be that we watched a lot of weekly series, and we still watch some. We’d tune in each week for the next episode and be at the mercy of scheduled programming.
Now, that we’ve been on streaming for a few years, we typically dig up series to watch from one of our subscription platforms (Netflix, HBO Max, Apple TV). It does not matter overly whether they are current. It’s more a question of whether they are reasonably recent and engaging.
We still get recommendations from friends. We subscribe and unsubscribe from secondary services based on what they have. But, it’s not really driven by programming, at least not as much as it was.
